Woodblock

Plate: 340 x 260 mm

This Meiji era (1868-1912) woodblock print by an unidentified artist shows Japanese Army officers reviewing what is probably an Imperial Guard unit. It has a strong composition with the regular ranks of the infantry in the background contrasting with the irregular group of mounted figures in the foreground and the intruding branches in the top right corner.

This original unframed print is in average condition for it's age, with some wrinkles and stains
