Another dramatic kabuki scene from Toyohara Kunichika in which a young boy challenges an angry looking spear-wielding samurai with a fan while others look on.  

The spectacular clothing of the actors, particularly the central figure of the youth, stand out from simple features of the actors the elegant background set featuring a painted screen and a large vase or basket with an elegant flower arrangement.

This original unframed print is in good condition for it's age, with vibrant colors. There are some small holes and soiling, consistent with age. The panels do not entirely align
